Compliance Matters 27 - April 2021
Welcome to the 27th edition of Compliance Matters - the UK's original eZine for health and safety compliance in the education sector. With COVID-19 restrictions gradually being lifted, there may be light at the end of the tunnel, but Handsam is always here to offer support and guidance in these uncertain times.
In this issue, Marilyn Hawes gives us some insight into the crucial subject of adverse childhood experiences and the traumatised brain. There are also details of the latest Resilience Event, which have proved so popular that over 1,000 Handsam clients have attended them since February. And we offer guidance to anyone who wants to get involved with National Teen Self-esteem Month.
Are you and your students aware of allergies? Read our article on the FSA's #SpeakUpForAllergies campaign.
We also have articles on the new data protection code of practice: The Children's Code and how teachers should look after their voices. Following on from our two-part series on violence in schools, Handsam have produced two documents to help schools who may have a problem with violence.
We're introducing a very useful additional library function for our clients - you can now search for URL links to external guidance through the Handsam system. Find out how the new Links function works here.
Handsam wishes everyone a safe and happy start to the summer term and some semblance of 'normality'.
