Updated Quick Guides and Policies
Handsam would like to make you aware of the new or updated Quick Guides you can now access through our Quick Guide Library. We respond to the needs of our customers, through safety issues we encounter on audits or direct requests for content on particular subjects when expanding our resources. This allows us to continue to grow our library around the direct compliance needs of our clients.
PLEASE NOTE THAT POLICIES ARE NOT A PART OF THE "QUICK GUIDES" PACKAGE AND UNLESS THEY ARE COVERED IN YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, THEY MUST BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY.

NEW: RAS81 Additional Risks and Control Measures for School Trips
Transporting children, of any age off-site is a high-risk activity. There are many factors to consider and many control measures to be put in place. This risk assessment focuses on aspects which may not be present in all school trips and visits, but may need to be considered, given the nature of your specific activity.
The Health and Safety Executive states that most serious school trip accidents involve ‘underlying management failures’ and is keen to encourage schools and local authorities to focus on how real risks are managed and not on ‘paperwork’. They recognise there is a challenge for schools to strike a balance between protecting pupils from risk, while enabling them to learn from educational trips.
UPDATED POLICY: ST01 Health and Wellbeing
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) often referred to as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a chronic, fluctuating, neurological illness that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. It affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide. People with M.E. experience severe, persistent fatigue associated with post-exertional malaise, the body’s inability to recover after expending even small amounts of energy, leading to a flare-up in symptoms
NEW: RAS80 Risk Assessment Template: Drama Classroom
This risk assessment assesses risks within the following areas: Awareness of policies and procedures, Slips, trips, and hazards, Handling of equipment, Drama props and sets, Electrical equipment, Pupil conduct, First aid.
NEW: RAS83 Risk Assessment Template: School Minibuses
This brand new risk assessment will help schools and academies manage and control the risks of running a minibus for non-commercial use. Minibuses are commonly used in education for all sorts of reasons; from bringing and taking pupils to and from school to sports fixtures or school trips. In order to deliver all this safely, your organisation needs trustworthy, qualified drivers and, of course, responsible people to manage the whole process from drivers and booking to insurance and maintenance.
