Pupils stranded on a ski trip to US after hotel ‘shredded 41 passports’ by mistake

42 school pupils and four staff members from Barr Beacon School in Walsall were supposed to fly home from Boston after their skiing holiday but missed their flight back because their hotel had shredded their passports by mistake.
They flew out on the trip to the White Mountains of New England on Friday 17th February and were due to return on Saturday 25th February.
Pupils had been staying at Kancamagus Lodge Hotel in New Hampshire and were forced to go to the British Embassy in New York so that they could acquire emergency travel documents to get home. This meant their journey home was four days later than originally planned.
It is not yet clear how the hotel made the mistake despite the Lincoln Police, the local police force, attending the hotel.
Whilst waiting for their travel documents, pupils have gone on an impromptu sightseeing tour in New York from the Staten Island Ferry to Central Park.
