The government has announced that schools and colleges will be requested to ensure a minimum number of staff are available to work on any future strike dates. Education Secretary Gillian Keegan will engage in discussions with unions regarding this matter, which they have criticized as "undemocratic." Initially, this will be on a voluntary basis, but Ms. Keegan has suggested that the government might utilise powers introduced earlier this year in the future. Unions have raised concerns, viewing it as an encroachment on teachers' right to strike.
