A 10-year-old girl was on a school trip to Putney Leisure Centre where she suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital. The Hotham Primary School pupil later died in hospital a short time later.

The girl had become unwell whilst visiting Putney Leisure Centre and emergency services, including an ambulance crew and advanced paramedic, were called on the afternoon of the school trip on 19th April to attend to the pupil. After being given first aid, she was taken to hospital where she sadly died. As of yet, her death is unexplained and an investigation is in place.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "A ten-year-old girl was reported to be in cardiac arrest. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and administered emergency first aid.

"The child was taken to hospital where she sadly died a short while later. Next of kin are being informed. The death is being treated as unexplained. A forensic scene is in place," the statement added.

A spokesperson for the leisure centre added: "Unfortunately at the leisure centre yesterday a girl became unwell. She was taken to hospital and we later found out she died. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time".
